School performance evenings move fast. The AV setup has to keep up.
A choir item, then a dance group, then a soloist, then a band, then a drama scene. Each item has different sound and lighting requirements. Each transition has to be clean.
“Pricing has two parts. Operators at $90/hr, equipment from $300. You only pay for the gear your program needs.”
Enchant Entertainment is a Perth family run business that has been delivering AV for school performance evenings since 2018. We bring a flexible rig and the right number of operators for your program.
Based in Kwinana, our team services schools across the entire Perth metro area. A short single operator evening with basic equipment lands around $660. A larger multi act revue with two operators and a full rig typically lands between $1,500 and $2,500.
Trusted by Perth schools from Kwinana to Joondalup.

From small drama showcases to combined school showcase evenings, we tailor the rig to suit.
The classic school performance evening. Drama, dance, choir, soloists, band items back to back. Two operators recommended for clean transitions between acts.
Music playback driven evening with stage wash lighting and moving heads available. Single operator works well if the program is choreographed in advance.
School band, orchestra or choir concert. Multiple microphones across the stage, DI inputs for instruments, foldback for musicians available.
Wireless mics for cast, sound effects from playback, stage lighting cued to scenes. We work from your script and lighting plot if you have one.
Multi item revue format with quick scene changes. Two operators highly recommended. We program scene presets in advance for fast, reliable transitions.
Larger showcase evenings where multiple schools share a venue. Extra wireless mics, larger PA coverage, multiple choir mic positions available.
School performance evenings have constant transitions. A choir item ends, a dance starts. The choir mics fade out, the music playback comes up, the stage wash shifts colour, the dancers move into position. Every transition needs sound and lighting to change at the same time.
With one operator splitting attention between sound and lighting, the transitions feel rough. The lighting cue lands a second late. The mic for the next reader is opened too early. The music fades when the speaker is still talking. Small things, but the audience notices every one.
With two operators, one is fully focused on sound and the other on lighting. They both attend the rehearsal so they know your program. Every cue lands clean, every act starts at the right moment, every transition feels seamless.
For single discipline evenings (just a dance showcase, just a band concert), one operator is usually enough because the technical setup stays consistent throughout the program. The mics rarely change, the lighting holds steady, the playback runs predictably.
For multi act revue style evenings, two operators is worth the cost. The extra operator adds $360 over a 4 hour evening ($90 x 4 hours). For a school running an event their community will remember, the smoother delivery from two operators is worth every dollar of the extra spend.

Common terms you will hear when planning a school performance evening, explained simply.
A performance night made up of several short items in different disciplines (dance, choir, drama, band). Each item has its own sound and lighting requirements and the program flows from one to the next with quick transitions between.
A saved configuration of mixer or lighting desk settings for one act in the program. Recalled by the operator at the start of that act so the technical setup is correct without having to dial it in live.
The technical changeover between two acts in the program. Includes fading out the previous act, changing mics, switching lighting, starting playback. Clean transitions make a performance evening feel professional.
Direct injection box. Converts the signal from electronic instruments like keyboards, bass guitar and acoustic pickups so they can plug into the sound mixer cleanly. Essential for performance evenings with live band items.
The PA system and mix position facing the audience. The operator sits at “front of house” and controls the overall sound the audience hears throughout the evening.
Stage monitors facing the performers so they can hear themselves and the music clearly. Important for band items where musicians need to hear each other to stay in time.
The setup phase before a show. Equipment is brought in, rigged, plugged in and tested. Counts towards your booked hours. Bump out is the reverse, packing everything down after the final act.
The pre show test where microphone levels, monitor balance and playback are dialled in with the performers. For multi act evenings, soundcheck includes setting scene presets for each item in the program.
